Ascalon - Another Relatively Unknown Manufacture

I've just taken a punt on this Ascalon watch -  a make first registered in Switzerland in the 1950s. It's apparently working well, and I note that the regulator is fairly central. The case has seen some age but the dial's just the style I like, and the movement looks very interesting. Hideous plastic strap - which will be dealt with summarily...

Nice dial and clean movement. I agree about the strap, needs to be changed in a hurry! Congrats on your new watch Will.

It's a pretty safe bet that if a watch has Incabloc shock protection then it will be of  good quality,  as said It's got Will written all over it.

Looking at the the screws etc it has been serviced a few times. However when it has a Incabloc that normally means little to worry about. Another nice watch Will.

Arrived today, and keeping excellent time. The movement looks cleaner in the flesh than in the pics - though it's obviously been tinkered with/serviced/cleaned a few times as the winding stem release screw bears witness. The regulator is bang in the middle, which is always a good sign. The vile plastic strap was whipped off and binned as soon as I got it to the table...

Are you going to attempt a re-plate of the case or leave it as it is and just give it a polish?

 

Agree about the strap - looks better already now its been removed !
