  1. I have not found a way to add this to the several excellent threads regarding how to replace KIF Elastor type clips so will start this as a new thread. The most valuable piece of information from the old threads is the recommendation to use clingfilm to cover the work area! The other crucial information is that the way to release the clip from its hinge is simply to pull on its cross bar. My contribution is to add that this implies that to replace the clip it can be pushed back into the hinge if the long legs have both been cliped in place. Therefore in replacing a KIF 3-3 (in a Longines Calibre 342) the clip (with the top jewel in place) is laid loosly over the jewel and then covered with clingfilm. The two long legs of the clip are then pushed into their seats using a fine tiip oiler. The cross bar of the hinge end of the clip can then be simply pushed on so that the hinge end of the clip goes back into place.
  2. Working on restoring a vintage Hamilton 686 movement (AS1200 based). Mangled the upper balance wheel jewel shock spring and need to source a few. I found a commercial source but they are asking more for the spring then the movement is worth. Does anyone have a supply that they can spare a few for a (reasonable) fee? Thanks Levine98
  3. I have an old movement (my first watch ever actually) that has an EB 8805 caliber. I've tried to service it it and it has some funny (cheap ?) solutions that has me puzzled. I managed to disassemble the balance staff shock system but I have not managed to get it back together and onr shock spring has gotten away, never to be seen again. When browsing around I found similar systems that was in my watch called KIF Trior that actually has special tools that might prevent you from turning mad. So my question is if I'm barking up the right tree here. Are these KIF and would the tools from cousins help me ?
  4. Hi guys, I am having a hard time figuring out what KIF Elastor spring to order on cousins to replace a broken one I have in a Hamilton movement cal. 61. I cannot find any databases that have any info about this movement but I am wondering what the difference is between the elastor 3-2 and 3-3 (what do I measure??). Thanks for the help!! -Emil
