Hi, I wanted to ask around here before attempting to lubricate the shock setting on this watch. It's got an odd assembly that I wasn't able to find online and I'm unsure of how to take it apart. This comes from an FHF 1686 movement. Any help with identifying this shock setting and subsequent disassembly help would be appreciated!

Hey all, Completely new beginner here, going through Mark's video course with a Unitas 6498 clone off ebay. I did search for this but didn't find it; so apologies if this has been asked already on the forum. I managed to dislodge the upper (? watchmaker side) incablock spring. I tried to get it back in, but it pinged into the ether on me. Not expecting the watch spirits to apport a replacement anytime soon, I ordered one and also some practice ones. My question is, for the Chinese 6498 clone, does the incabloc spring insert on the outside or the inside of the setting? I kept trying to get it into the outside of the setting which probably resulted in frustration and me squeezing the tweezers too tight and launching it. But then I watched a video from another thread that showed a KIF spring and it was inserted via the inside of the setting, so I was thinking maybe I was trying the wrong thing the whole time. I had read that disassembling was not required to put the spring in a Chinese clone, so please advise if I misunderstood. I also read about using some plastic wrap to avoid pinging the spring away, and I will definitely do this in the future for my practice ones when they come. Thanks for the help!

Hello, For context, I have just acquired a few old watches (mostly quartz but a few mechanical ones too) and have been going through and servicing them (none worked well). Unfortunately, this was my first experience with shock springs and I have lost the upper balance spring. Has anyone got any idea what spring is used on the Raketa 2614.H movement? I have looked at the Cousins list but I have no idea which ones I need. I have seen the Inca table: for spare parts but I am still not entirely sure what I need. Here is a picture of the movement:

AS per title, while reassembling a movement (ETA 2892-a2) the incablock spring that is on the main plate broke off in 2 parts, so now I need to replace it. How can I do it without removing the jewel holder from the plate?

It is labeled "Tourist" automatic on the dial. The rear cover says only Swiss made, Incabloc and 25 jewels. It's in rough condition but I would like to identify the likely movement if at all possible prior to deciding whether or not to purchase. It might make a great restoration project. Then again, it might make an interesting paper weight.

Today, after about six weeks of intermittent efforts, I finally got the incabloc spring fit into the setting. Good thing too as it was the next to last of this size in my parts stock. But, you must defeat the demon, you cannot give up. RMD VID_20181121_131734671.mp4

I have a nice AS 1746/47 movement I was servicing and when I attempted to remove the lower balance jewel for cleaning/oiling, the incabloc spring broke. I've sourced the spring and removed the setting from the plate, but this is the devil trying to set the spring hinge into the setting. Anyone have any tips that might make this a bit more successful? Hello! I am servicing my first 7750 (thank you Mark for the YT videos and Lawson for the Disassembly/Assembly walk-through). The movement is not new - let's say it has an obscure unknown history It appears to be a genuine swiss 7750, but with a lower grade finish (very low...) When putting back the balance stones I noticed that there were two sizes (two pairs, because the cap stones fit the hole jewel settings). I put the smaller stone and hole-jewel on the mainplate and the larger ones on the balance cock. I tried to but the larger setting on the mainplate but it didn't fit quite right. I believe the springs are the same size - its just the stones that differ a bit (aprox 0.1mm) So my question is: did any of you stumbled upon the same issue? Is it normal for a 7750 to have two different stone sizes? Thank you! Bogdan

Hi everyone, I recently got an amazing Hamilton Sea Cliff 3 watch from the early 70s powered by a handwound cal.61. I received the watch and it had not been serviced in a very long time. I serviced the watch but unfortunately used an oil pick that was too large to take the elastor shock absorbing spring out to get to the endstones. I accidentally broke one of the two levers off in the process and am now left with a functioning movement that I am afraid might become easily damaged by displacement of the endstones from small shocks. I have included a photo of the KIF Elastor spring below. I looked all over the internet, and i cannot find a supplier that will sell to me (not a trained or professional watchmaker). Does anybody know where I can get one of these springs? It would be greatly appreciated if somebody could lead me in the right direction as to where to get one and how to tell if it is the 3-3 or 3-2 sizing or even have any idea what ETA movement this cal.61 is based on as there is not a complete database of these movements online.:( Thank you everyone for your help!! -Emil:)

Hi everyone. I wonder if someone can help me. I am just a beginner and new to the site but reading through some of the threads have been amazed how helpful everyone is. I have a 50's Universal Geneve wrist watch with a 263 movement which had stopped and needed a thorough clean. I have fully disassembled it but realise now I probably did not need to take off the upper (watch face side) balance pinion jewel plate with the lyre spring, just to clean the capstone and jewel! Anyway, whilst struggling to reassemble this section, the lyre spring (pictured before escape) made a successful break for it and is lost to the world forever. Could anyone please tell me how to find another of the right size to fit? I know Cousins sell them, but do not know how to relate their ETA sizes to UG movements. Is there a conversion list somewhere? Hugely grateful for any assistance. Best regards Jon

Hello, As a beginner in the field of watch service/repair I have stumbled through a few movements and picked up so much value and guidance through Mark's videos. Lately I have taken a fancy to a couple of old Revue Sport watches with Revue 56 movements. These are supposedly late 30's or early 40's and the ones I have are fitted with Incabloc protection even though I have understood and seen examples on the web that the non-inca may be more common. In one of my movements I have a broken balance pivot and would prefer to swap out the complete balance (# 721) for a new one as I don't have the tools/skills yet to swap out the staff only. I find that there are different versions for the staff (inca/non-inca) available and the dimensions are close to identical, there's only a diameter that differs very slightly in the numbers. I have found suppliers for the 721 non-inca balance complete part and my question is if that part will run in my inca version of the movement? With the overall staff length identical between the staff versions, there should be a decent chance or...? Grateful for any advice out there... /B

Hello, I got the new incabloc spring and it fit perfectly. Some may remember from my last post, that the other one seemed slightly too big and it was. Now there is a new problem, the date will not turn over by spinning the hands past midnight. I think its a problem with either the double calendar setting wheel (560-1559) or the date indicator driving wheel (563-1564) because I can see the date indicator wheel reach the teeth on the date wheel (the one with the actual numbers), but it stops as if it doesn't have enough power to turn it over. I also crushed the tube of sweep second hand trying to tighten it so that it wouldn't spin, but its no good now! I need a new sweep second hand and cannot find a S.S. one. Has anyone had the problem of the date not turning over at midnight like this? Thanks for any insight anyone can provide. JC

Hi all and thank you in advance for any advice. I am a complete noob here, so any advice will help. I received a watch that has mainly sentimental value to me. The watch appears to be 50 or so years old and from what I can tell has no value other than the sentimental one may attach to it. Still, I would like to find out what it would take to make it run properly. The watch seems to be well preserved for its age, but is ailed by a strange issue. The watch runs and keeps good time except that I noticed that once in a while it is wa-a-ay off. I observed the watch more closely to discover that the the minute hand can sometimes "droop" by 10 or even more minutes when you tap on the case of the watch ever so gently. By repositioning the case and tapping on it from the opposite side you can cause the hand to droop back. Initially I thought that may be the minute hand itself was loose, but then I noticed that the hour hand moves with the minute hand when the minute hand "drops" and then I knew this is too big for me to diagnose. I would like to figure out the scope of the issue to estimate how big of a repair I am looking at here. I apologize for the lame low-rez pictures, but I figured this is no rare watch and someone who knows even a little more than I do can classify this movement enough to diagnose what may be wrong here (if it's even movement-specific). Again, many thanks for any light you may shed on my problem. If any additional info is needed, please let me know. I hope it is something I can provide despite my inexperience and lack of proper tools. leo

I was working on an A. Schild 1187 movement. While cleaning the lower jewel setting (Incabloc) the cap jewel flew and I can't find it. How does one get a replacement? I tried several that I have already but none fit. I suppose I can see if I can get an 1187 scrap movement and see if I cant scavenge it but can one be ordered? Perhaps it is interchangeable with other watch movements? This whole interchangeability issue kind of stumps me.
