  1. Hello, I'm trying to rivet a roller table to a balance staff and it doesn't want to hold or fit tight. Can I shellac the table to the staff? Is there something else I can do?
  2. Thanks so much for the insight, I'm a new pocketwatch collector and I have started taking them apart to clean and oil. ..... but now I think I might be completely hooked. So much to learn and understand, but once you put that little beauty back together and it starts to tick WOW! what a feeling. Thanks again Rick.
  3. Just got my hands on a Waltham 6 size Model: 1890 Grade: W The other one's I saw like this in the pocket watch DATABASE (4) all have sub second hands. Mine does not. Is this possible?
  4. Thank you so much John for the precious insight. The end is just folded over. But there is a protrusion in the barrel, so I suspect a mainspring with a hole could do. Will a different sized mainspring afect the keeping of time? Thanks again Rick.
  5. I fell in love with old pocket watches about a year ago. Decided to try to take them apart to clean and reassemble hoping that they would work again. It's a real challenge, the parts are tiny and putting them together requires patience and ability. I live up in northern Quebec and enjoy the outdoors.
  6. I took apart a nice old English Fusee watch and noticed the mainspring was broken. I have been trying to find a replacement but with no success. Cousins do not have the exact dimentions. is there a way i could substitute it for another one that is close to size? the dimmentions that i need are 2.5 mm x .25 mm x 460 mm X 16 mm (inside baril dimention). If somebody could help me out it would be greatly appreciated. Rick
