  1. I have a similar one but with a cowboy! Somewhere I have a cowgirl too. It is indeed the pallet fork that gives the motion. My first watch was a Frogger watch, followed by a first gen G Shock. Then a quartz Seiko diver, and finally got an Omega automatic just before I went to watchmaking school. I didn't want to show up with a quartz.

  2. No way will it come out from the back. Have you tried to pull the stem out? I'm thinking it might be a two piece stem.

  3. I received a Wyler 1162 from Dad for graduation. Just a simple, no date 17J. Still have it and recently gave it a clean & oil with new mainspring. Not in service yet as no crystal is available. I bought a PA460, but the inside is too small. I scraped and polished until it was too big! I'll order another and try it again... The original crystal is still basically serviceable but is green. Honest to goodness dark green. It had a green leather strap that got misplaced over the years. Wonder if others recall colored crystals? This is the only one I recall seeing. If Dad had just gone down another block, a jeweler sold Bulova and a new brand by the name of Seiko! Oh I had a Westclox pocket watch and a Timex before the Wyler. They are long since gone.

  6. First watch was a Kered from Shepherds of the shambles in York, alas no longer in business. The plus side is I still have the watch it was a 21st birthday pressie, and even better it still ticks 54 years later although the dial has a water mark , I even wore it playing cricket for 12 years.

  7. My first watch was a Adram divers watch with a EB 8012 movement. This was a birthday present and was subsequently the first way I attempted to repair (age 11). Ironically a few years ago my brother found it and I re-furbished it as it runs great.

  8. That is a lovely looking watch and it’s radio controlled which I’m guessing means if you can’t find it you just grab the controls and it comes to you...... I’ll get my coat

  10. Couldn't say what the brand was but it was a mechanical winding watch and on the dial was a native American Indian on horseback and instead of a seconds hand he held a tomahawk which ratcheted back and forth, almost like the motion of a pallet fork. Cannot tell you how much I wish I still had it. If only as a reminder of my parents.

  11. New arrival, runs and stops after 30 ish seconds. No name. Movement says 15jewels & Swiss made. The only other mark I can find is a very small indentation with a X in it. Can't really see in photos but it's about a quarter of an inch from the winder.

  12. I have separated the HS from balance on these a few times. Side note these almost never come out of the box properly centered as you can see in the first pic out of a freshly bought movement.

  15. Hi, I designed this Bergeon style part dust tray for watchmakers or hobbyist to put tiny dust sensitive parts to prevent the dust landing on it, it usually comes with a clear glass bell cover, but I can't print glass, untransparent will do for me, enjoy. The bell cover needs support while printing, I printed in 0.15mm resolution, looks good and works well, if you have more watchmaker tools requirements can be printed in plastic, please let me know, I'll love to design them, thanks. 18. The other thing that is needed when playing with magnets and watches is a way of figuring out if your watch really is magnetized or not. So there's the old-fashioned way with a compass image attached for how to do that. then a link to a free app for your phone from a company that wants to sell a really expensive demagnetizer. https://www.lepsi.ch/watch-demagnetizer/

  19. For anyone that's not sure how there supposed to be using the coil type demagnetizer this is what Omega recommends. Then even though it's in the picture I'm going to quote some text "Demagnetisation according to the three axes x, y and z is necessary when using this type of instrument. Do not release the instrument when the object is inside the tunnel as it could finish up being more magnetised than before." Then you will notice in the fine print a minimum of 50 cm away from the coil before you take your finger off the button and five seconds to get to the 50 cm.
