  1. Omega Speedmaster 1964, my favourite watch !

  2. Robbed... positively fried I would say. However, on the plus side, I can use it as an excuse to tell terrible sausage jokes... Capitalism, Socialism, and Communism have a meeting for tea at noon. Capitalism and Communism arrive on time, but Socialism is nowhere to be found. Finally he arrives, out of breath and apologetic." I'm sorry," says Socialism, "I was standing in line for sausage." Capitalism says - "What's a line?" And Communism says - "What's a sausage?" ... or ... There were two sausages in a frying pan. One sausage turned to the other and said "man its hot in here", the other sausage looked shocked turned and said.. "Now there's something you don't see every day... a taking sausage!!" ... or if that doesn't tickle you ... There's this butcher and one day just as he is about to close the shop for the day a dog came in with a note in his mouth. The note read "Can I have a steak and three sausage links please?" The butcher took the note and gathered the things. When he turned back around he was surprised to see a twenty dollar bill in the dog's mouth. The dog grabbed the meat in a bag and left the shop. The astounded butcher decides to close up his shop and follow the dog. The pair soon came to a bus stop. The dog looked at the schedule and sat down on the bench. The first bus came and the dog got up and trotted over to the front of the bus, looked at the number and sat back down. Another bus came and again the dog looked at the bus number and saw it was the right one. He got on, the butcher closely following. The bus rumbled on and the dog jumped up walked to the front of the bus, leaped up and rang the bell to stop the bus. The dog got out with the butcher in tow and headed off down the street. After some time they turned in to a driveway. The dog bounded down the tarmac to the door and clattered the letter box. The dog did it again and hopped up on a fence to peer in the window. The canine knocked on the window with his paw then jumped back on to the tarmac, grabbed the meat and walked up to the door. The door opened and a man walked out and started to yell at the dog. The butcher ran up to stop him. The butcher said "What are you doing? This dog is amazing!" "What are you talking about? This is the second time this week that he's forgot his key!" BTW - Pro tip.. Do NOT Google "Sausage watch"... just saying...

  3. I dunno , If getting a sweet watch like that one for that price is being young and stupid ,..then count me in....figuratively speaking . In any case , I really like your watch and went to dig mine out because I thought they were the same . I can honestly say that I am just starting to learn the numbers and nuances of Omega watches , and the speedmasters in particular all look the same to me but I am slowly starting to see and learn the subtle differences . Here is a pic I found on the internet of what mine looks like . One big difference in mine compared to most I have seen is the numerals under the indices ,....among other things .

  4. Seiko doesn't sell to individuals, but pretty much anyone can buy and even special order Seiko parts from Cousins UK, Borel, Boley, Star Time, etc. These material houses also manage to obtain many Swiss parts, plus the many they had is stock before the restriction. but as per previous link the issue is simple: Swatch group has a set and published policy of not providing parts other than to their Authorized Service Centers. Many other Swiss manufactures do the same Also, Swatch is limiting sales of certain ETA movements to companies of the same group. Seiko don't have such a parts restriction policy. They also have a subsidiary company, SII to provide complete mov.ts to OEMs.

  5. All right you guys.... In a fit of nostalgia I went on ebay and ordered myself a safety razor. Well to quote the great philosopher Yogi Berra."NOSTALGIA AIN'T WHAT IT USED TO BE "! it arived in all it's chrome plated glory along with a package of TREET razor blades..Made to Pakistan standards, I cast a dubious eye upon them, but none the less loaded the razor. I put on my glasses and got busy. I leaned something in the process , the reason why Sikhs don't shave .the blade was awful. I used the lightest possible touch ,and it was still a blood letting. Or is this normal ? is the point of the first shave to slice off all the irregularities on your face so the second shave is smoother? I also remembered why I put the stupid thing down after wilkinson sword stopped making blades in the UK. I am not going to give up just yet. I am going to try another sort of blade,

  6. I think the problem could be play in the barrel arbor. One barrel had holes which were badly worn. Even with the one that seemed OK, I can tilt the barrel a bit when it's installed. With it on the timegrapher I can get the amplitude going from about 190 to 220 deg by tilting the edge of the barrel with some pegwood. I think that's a clue ! The power does go through the sweep second pinion (seems odd) - which takes it from the bottom third wheel to the top one. So it's worth checking that the sweep second pinion is fitting ok, and oiled.

  7. A little bit of utilitarian Gallic simplicity in the form of a "Lijac" to bring us back down to earth. It has a tick like a Timex, and approximately zero jewels, but none the less it does poses a certain continental charm. So far I have managed to find out precisely nothing about this particular watch, so if anybody has any clues regarding its origin and manufacturer, I would be keen to find out.

  8. they are just plastic discs and you just line them up as you would normal hands but they were a nightmare to refit and try and keep level, the hour one was loose on the pinion and i had to tighten the hole and i spent a good hour on the seconds disc as there was only a gap of about 1mm between that and the minute disc before i realised that i was fitting it upside down DOH! hence no gap because there is about a 3mm gap between each disc to make sure they do not rub together and that is why the watch is so deep about 15mm. i wasnt happy with the rotor because it was very black and pitted but that was the best i could clean it. on the whole it didnt turn out to bad considering the state it was in originally .

  9. Sorry, I wrongly assumed it was a retro-design new watch, it's not and not even automatic. Looks the same as the below, reportedly using Unitas 6300N. But the etching on the caseback of the OP indicated also makes me think it can't be that old. https://www.chrono24.com/atlantic/atlantic-worldmaster--id10259827.htm

  11. Now this... is Franken. A "Lanco" on ebay.. of dubious parentage. Surely if you are going to laser etch such nonsense on the case back, you could at least get the image correct before you hit the blaster button. Or maybe I've got it all wrong, and you are meant to admire it in the mirror. D minus for effort. Must try harder.

  16. Some crystals, like the one that is in the video and owned by the OP have absolutely no lip to grab with a lifter. So there is no other choice. Remember that our Mark is not in the business of teaching how to damage watches, but exactly the opposite.

  17. The picture shows dial is tilted, so would be the movement usually. I cast my vote for balance wheel having come in contact with the case. Set the dial/ movement level in the bezel.

  19. I like it a lot. That thing is as old as I am, but I suspect it does a lot less creaking and grumbling.

  20. I get it....and I honestly dont blame them. However theres much more to the story primaruly shitty customer service. The bottom line the price between a tag aquaracer and the Oris TT1 is $0. The reason why I went with the TT1 was its smaller size. With that said this saga has taught me a couple things.......Oris uses a cheaper grade movement and their quality is much less than the TAG do youre better iff with the TAG in the end. For me back then I had no concept of movements etc etc and though each watch manf made everything in house. Had I known then what I know now I wouldnt have purchased the TT1. Hopefully anybody in that same situation may stumble upon this thread and be warned as I was not. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk

  21. Have one of those here also in parts. Have serviced a couple of those and they are running good with great amp. Think it was 270 -280 . Don't know why the 5470 is running so bad. If it's the 21600 Hz instead of the 5470 18000 hz
