  1. I do love a Seiko currently I have 2 in my collection a 1978 (not a dive watch) and a Japanese 007 seen here chillin in the snow, it came to me as a 'non runner' but actually all it was missing was the plastic ring that holds the movement in place! I got a new one from Cousins and it doesn't miss a beat!

  2. This is from my post a few years ago (2015). If I remember correctly I used all of my suggested lubricants and the watch worked great. However after approx. six months the auto part stopped working efficiently. I re cleaned treated the wheels with epilame (fixodrop) and lubed with HP 500. Since then it has not been off my wrist part from bath time.

  3. hmmm careful, multimeters measure resistance and you can't figure current knowing resistance and volts if its an AC signal with a coil . I agree, if the power is given, then yes Ohm's law works, but we're dealing with with AC so the ohms has to be impedance not resistance....and you can't measure impedance with a multimeter (they measure resistance only, whereas impedance is resistance, inductance and capacitance, you need a fancy LCR). Look at it this way, if you connected a wire between the legs of AC mains, bang you blow the breaker. But if you coil that same wire, it now has inductance. That's why say a transformer (which is a wire connecting the mains but in a coil) doesn't blow the breaker. I think the right answer was given on the switch so all is good, just saying with coils and AC keep in mind inductance has to part of applying ohms law to get power Good job on the repair, it looks very professional

  4. Hi colditz, As long as you pick small amount of gule and on one side of screwdriver only ( avoid having glue on both sides of the blade) and ofcourse not runny glue, you are likely to get near perfect results. Facts are, we don,t have a full top view of HS when installed even less in motion, even if we did, manipualtion is limited to external section of HS. All is most reachable when outside. So why risk damaging the perfecrion we worked for, glue the perfection in. No need to spend hours, days to master installed HS manipulation. Furthuremore I shim the external circumference of bridge to lower the bridge jewel, so it keeps the balance wheel from turning as turning may let the HS to slip out of glue before it dries. Regards

  6. Mystery solved! After a bit more aggressive prodding, the metal plate with the circle can be removed to reveal the full circuit board/ movement for the watch et voila, the 371 1.55v battery with contact! The electrical contact with spring must be part of the circuit that grounds to the back of the clock, although it does seem odd still. I have only seen one photo of the back removed on another watch and did not see this condition. The watch is running perfectly now!

  7. The only similar demagnetiser I could find on line states it is 80 Watts. That would be approximately 1/3 A at 240V or about 700 mA at 110V. A 2A or 3A switch should be fine.

  8. If you have a multimeter you can find the resistance of the coil, then divide the wall voltage by that to get your amp draw. Amps = volt/ohms If they had listed the wattage, you could use amps= watts/volts. By the same formula if we imagine it draws 2 amps, you'd be at almost 500 watts which I'm pretty sure it doesn't use. I think you are safe with your 3 amp switch.

  9. Found the spring on my computer desk the other side of the room [emoji2359]... Ordered the parts from cousins, just in case I need them. Thanks for the help Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  10. I have often wondered about laying one of my stereo speakers on its back , placing a large dish over the woofer, putting the cleaning solution and parts in a plastic jar and listening to Jethro Tull.
