  1. This is just a photo of my Illinois 12s P/W movement just after a good cleaning, now a new mainspring & staff then it's ready to go. I just thought it was a great picture just befor bed last night

  2. I had a Seiko some time ago that had a similar problem. I put it carefully over the de-magnetiser (not too close) and ran the stepper motor for a few seconds. This cured the problem but I never found out what the problem was. Probably a tiny bit of dirt in the gear train ? Maybe it really needed a strip and clean etc but it is still going fine for some 2 years now.

  3. Probably need to go deeper in. The rotor could have found some magnetic particles and making it stuck. It's a good thing it stutters as it probably just need a good clean.

  4. Some cheap quartz movements aren't really designed to be taken apart and am sure there is already some type of spray cleaner on the market. To be honest I wouldn't waste my time trying to clean, for a few quid you can replace it. More expensive movements I wouldn't be confident cutting corners but I always like to be open minded. 5. Are you sure it is a friction staff? Be careful about using too much force. You could warp the wheel attempting to drive the staff out. You should be able to press it out if you have a jeweling lever for your staking set. As oldhippy says, a good close up picture would help a lot.

  6. There must be sometnig wrong with it. It should tap out using your staking tool with the correct punch. Any chanch of posting a good clear picture.

  7. Yep if you don’t like wd40 then 3 in 1 will work just as well, just wipe it on and wipe off the excess, not being funny but you could use engine oil!!!!!! As long as you completely wipe off the excess as all it is doing is putting a layer of oil to prevent rust, so I wouldn’t get too hung up trying to find a specialist oil for a singular task that is non crictical mate

  9. Superstitious gestures aside, how would you reach the lubrication points when you haven't removed much more than the back case? LoL
