  1. A few pictures of the Squale restoration. Thank you to everyone that replied and gave invaluable advice. Unfortunately the coil is knackered so watch doesn't run so have started another post on this forum to try and resolve this. Glass or plastic came up a treat. Had issues as the old battery was left in the watch for eight years and it leaked acid all over so corroded a number of bits and bobs but managed to source replacement parts for this. Didn't check the electronic circuit as I was assured it was running when it was put away by the owner. Shame on me. Andy

  2. My current collection of watch repair tools. All tools have a special purpose and there are only a few duplicates, where I found a more professional tool. You basically need all these tools to repair watches. Did not include and oils or cleaning solutions. Did not include my ultrasonic cleaner or and timing tools (I use both PC and Tab Software). Did not include my Drummel tool used for case polishing . Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

  3. I think I might give up.. I thought I only needed a bed spanner, lots of enthusiasm and a rubbish bin to put all the watch bits in!!!!

  4. I think so but not sure all I know reducing end shake reduces positional error. What I don't understand is, if the jewels are OK & the balance is OK why there is to much end shake. Perhaps the balance bridge has become distorted or a wrong length balance staff has been fitted or maybe the balance & jewels over time just wear. I do know that the Rolex 3135 allows for this by an adjustments fitted to the plate.

  5. Sounds like this one made it passed QC unnoticed. The possibilities are many but I'm thinking that endshakes are off casing all sorts of trouble when changing position. Also oiling or dirt may be involved in the low amp. When BE is pretty much unfixable it indicates the hairspring wasn't placed correctly on the balance wheel and so even with the studs pushed all the way to one side you won't get it adjusted. This may be the movement for you to dissect and learn more since you have the new one coming. Good luck! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  6. Does the watch set properly? If it's loose and difficult to set I'd look at the cannon pinion. had a loose cannon pinion on a movement and it was behaving much the same way as you describe so I think that may be the issue. If so, you have to tighten it. I think there are videos covering this procedure.

  8. Thanks Rogar! It is a Rolex Duofix 'U' shape and I was able to clean it, oil it and assemble it fine with the information on your link. Thanks! I would have tried to pressure one of the legs instead of pushing the top in the direction of the center to free it from the chaton and most probable would have break it. You are becoming my shock spring master :-). Saved me twice :-)

  9. Nice tool set you got. Have Jacot tool but it's probably worn or something cause the pivots never run in the groove as they should. Or if it's me that don't now how to use it properly.

  15. I finally latched onto a nice Accutron "Woody " after making several attempts in the past . I can honestly say that I really like this 218 Accutron , probably as much as my 214 Astronaut .
