  1. Excellent Mark! Thank you very much! I'm now completely hooked. This is great news for me...and the wife...maybe! :D

  2. It may be best just to replace the reversing wheels as they are reasonably cheap. 10/10 reversing wheels and ball race replacement on these movements will usually solve all the auto winding problems. Also - check for any missing teeth on the winding wheels (within the auto works and under the barrel bridge) and replace as needed.

  3. Thanks Will, I don,t think it is that, but will look again the other thing I am wondering if the bearing purchased is not 100%. Just found this vid and will do the test. The other problem is it is the Sister in laws and getting her to give it it back is an issue as she says she will just wind it every day. Winding me up thats for sure. P.S The watch has has been through the wars as I had to replace the balance staff

  4. That's a genuine concern - to solve this just put it in a small plastic parts container, but if we are talking about a balance complete, mounted to the cock then do not risk it, put it on the movement first. If you put a balance complete on the cock in a plastic box and demag it, then you risk the heavy part jumping and distorting or twisting the spring which is a whole new set of problems.

  5. Haven't seen any 4205's with a day window, you could try a bit of very careful fettling on a scrap or after market dial (cheap ones on fleabay) only problem is the silver print around the window. As for the hands - this being a copy of the 4205 I would assume they stay the same, please let us know if they fit. I think as the men's Seiko divers continue to reach ever higher prices, attention will turn to the 4205. Its a good movement to hone your skills on due to its small size, price and easily obtainable parts.
