  1. Sorry for my late response. Thanks for the all of your welcome replies. As I mentioned in an earlier post, this is a warm and friendly place with a lot of good people. Thanks for this forum, Mark!

  2. Hello, Here is a Sicura with windows for hour, minute and date. The little propeller keeps track of the seconds. I overhauled two of these so far....It is powered by BFG 866 with 17 jewels---not one on the pallet lever itself! Apparently they ran out of jewels at that point or something so they used little pins. Keeps decent time though, and reminds me of old-style parking meters we had all over NYC about 10 years ago. Check the Watch Repair Help & Advice forum to see the movement tear-down and rebuild of the bfg866. JC

  3. I see the problem, the whole regulator assembly is missing and I would guess that the hairspring is probably not too healthy either. I have done some rummaging and your in luck. I have a complete and running (albeit in need of a service) BFG158 in a Buler which should provide any of the going train parts that you need. Dial side will be different though as it is conventional 3 hands and a date but with any luck you don't have anything missing from that side. It is definitely a pin pallet (or pin lever) movement, this one with 25 jewels, so quite an interesting movement to work on if you've not come across one before. Anyway, this one has you name on it if you want to pm me an address.

  4. Thank you so much. Im going to check every detail that you pointed me. I will keep you inform of the progress. Ohhh and by the way let me take a couple of lines to tell you that I admire you as a professional, because you are one of the few persons in the trade that doesnt have fear to pass your knwoledge to help others. In my case I have to turn to a person that is 6,600km apart from me to get any help or advice. Once again thank you so much for your help.

  5. That's so annoying when that happens: the tweezer points get bent out of shape when they hit the bone :( Pro Tip: try not to poke them in your eye instead though. The eye is much softer, so the tweezers will be OK, but it's not so good for the eye.

  6. I always use my tweezers for the pinions, I use the thicker part behind the tips. It ensures that the part doesn't fly away and preserves the tips! Of course a pinion tool is better and ensures a straight extraction. In any event, good job Don...and you just gave away another hiding place I should search for lost parts! Never thought they would team up with socks! :)
