Winging its way right now.

It's a non runner from Hong Kong and the bezel looks a little faded but should be a fun project.

Besides, if it is beyond my rather basic skills, I know a man in Berlin that can revive it.

I have my share of 7xxx and other battery powered Seiko Chronos , but the 7A38 is my favorite .

In the past I have had about a 50% success rate in repairing them , but these can be a pistol to work on ,....mostly because if the circuit board is kaput , that's it .  I don't have the patience to work with the plastic gears mostly because of the fragile pivots , so I had a large stash of parts I sent to George C . where they will do the most good .

Good Luck with your incoming 7A38 .     BTW , The watch forum , 7A38 - by the numbers  , is a good source of info on this caliber .

Nice collection you have there.

I too have a few 7t watches.

I have a few others but Photobucket is playing silly monkeys and not letting me access all my pics.

This is my first 7a and hopefully not my last. I just refuse to pay the inflated prices some of them are going for so I buy cheap non working ones and keep buying until I can make one good one. Then I send them to George when I fail or chicken out

Well, bad news and good news.

The bad

But the good news is a VERY generous member on another forum sent me a working donor.

Only thing is.... I stuck it on a brown leather strap with gold buckle and can't bring myself to pull the movement to transplant into the first one [emoji4]

Now all I need is a working donor with a trashed case [emoji6]

That IS bad news and Very good news , and a little something in-between....I think .

Curious , Is the dial seated properly?  In the pic It seems to be lifted a bit from 10 to 3 . I have had similar circumstances where the dial wasn't seated all the way caused by the dial feet not being all the way down . I loosened the dial foot screw and was able to better seat the dial....sometimes .

Never noticed but I'll take a closer look. Might just be the angle and that shadow but we'll see.

OK , more good news..... Looks like you may have to zero out the minute subdial .

For that, it will need a case clean and rebuild with gaskets first. Will be ordering a load soon for this and 6 or 7 other watches.
