I like the Apollo 13 Snoopy edition of the speedmaster very much. Great story behind it and I would like to confuse people by showing them the little snoopy on the dial of an Omega. I would love to let them believe that it must be a fake watch.

Maybe one day....:)

Oh I would love to have a Speedmaster Snoopy as well. I'm not big on really expensive watches, theres a point where price exceeds utility, but there are a few I'll make exceptions for.

Mine is a Bulova Moon Pilot.

That's interesting! I did not know that a Buloga was on Apollo Mission 15. Buloga Moon Watch

It's relatively close to an Omega in style but with quartz movement. And the prize seems very affordable!

Nice watch!

I like this statement on the Bulova page: " A fun fact to share: The original Bulova moon pilot chronograph—the only privately-owned watch to make space history— " :-)

Its Bulova...and the pronunciation stresses the U not the O!

I now have a collection of 50+ watches from Seiko 5 to Rolex (Zenith) Daytona and the Speedmaster Pro is still be favourite wearer. I think its the case shape/size combined with the incredible dial ("busy... but legible") that does it for me.. Plus, it looks as good on a NATO as on a bracelet..  If i only had one watch.. This would most likely be it.

The 3570.50 and the current Speedmaster Professional 311.30.42.30.01.005 both with hesalite. It's the only watch that NASA has certified for EVA. Other watches are allowed inside the ISS, but with EVA it's the Speedy Pro or the Fortis 638.10.11 Cosmonaut Chronograph. There are fittings on US spacesuits made specifically for the speedmaster. Some of the Russian crew has also taken to using the Speedmaster.

The sapphire crystal is tough, but it shatters if broken and you can't have little pieces of sapphire floating around in zero G

The tests are rather brutal, temperature, severe vibration, vacuum. The advice you hear about mechanical movements is to not shock them. I really doubt any day to day activity will beat being launched into space at 9G vibrating nearly so much your vision blurs.
