Bulova made some funky watches in the 70's...Nice!

thanks guys. this is the jet star. i've seen them with red on the hands, too. but always with the blue painted bezel.

bulova was NOT afraid to go out on the limb design-wise.

I just finished servicing this Angelus Alarm watch that was given to me by a seller at the local swap meet . It has an AS 1475 movement that is used in other Swiss watches and is cloned in Russian Poljot watches with Cal. 2612.1

I found the Angelus watch movement interesting to work on so I got this Poljot at a pretty good "Make Offer " price .

Actually , all the Russian Alarm watches were very reasonable ,...but if course their movements are not as finished looking as the AS 1475 .

A few days ago I received a little package from Vilnius, Lithuania containing the Luch 3055 I'd ordered a few days prior. This is one of the electro-mechanical "hybrid" movements, and I was fortunate enough to find one on Etsy that's pretty near pristine - photo below. This has become one of my favorite watches. It's a nice chunky one - looks chunkier on my skinny wrist - and I very much like the styling. If you've never sampled one of these, they're a very interesting model. The beat rate is very fast, probably something near 8 or 10 beats per second. The movement has a balance, but is driven electronically vs. with a mainspring. I think I'll be wearing this one a lot.  :-)

Revisiting the Luch I mentioned above, here's a better shot showing its size... it isn't really as huge as it appears in the previous photo, and I swapped the strap out for a more modest one that I feel suits it better. Here's a pic of the movement as well.

Today I'm wearing my , " nobody likes this watch but me " watch .  I've shown the sellers pics to a few people with less then enthusiastic responses .

Oh well ,...I like it .

I cleaned the case , serviced the movement , and installed a new and very comfortable watch band yesterday .

Here's my kinda thin vintage Enicar handwind......

Hi guys,

Wearing a Citizen V2 today... this version has 23 jewels but it was also available with 21 or 25 jewels.

Hacking but with Japanese only day-wheel. Quickset on date via the crown at the first stop. Still has its original 'C' crown. 002xxx serial number puts the production date in Feb 1970.

Citizen Autos from the 70s-80s are not really appreciated enough IMO..the ubiquitous 82xx series is as common as chips and Citizen's weird styling during the 80s do not attract as many admirers as the Seiko models from the same period. The eagle series are just too odd. Nonetheless the earlier models have decent enough styling and the movements are well constructed. I particularly like the 'Crystal Seven' and 'V2" series.

Here's some pics....replacement crystal, dial a bit discolored around the edges of the upper half.

The current strap is 'cheap' (sellers pic)..

Original crown, sides have been lightly polished.

Very nice Anil , I agree about the Eagle series. Not as appealing as some of the other models . I like and have a few V2's , Crystal Sevens , and Homers .

I just bought this Citizen "Leader Student" watch on ebay that one of the members from the Seiko Citizen Watch Forum had up for auction . It is a JDM watch and comes on an AM  Beads of Rice watchband from Japan by manufacture "Bambi " .
