Hi my name is Harold Ship. I live in Mitzpe Netofa, Israel. I have a Seiko SNK803, a Sea-Gull ST5, and an HMT frankenstein Kanchan.

I would like to start learning about and tinkering with mechanical watches.

I love your videos!

Hello Harold and Welcome from a fellow tinkerer,

Thats the way a lot of us started, by watching Marks videos and having a go.

You will have to decide what you want to have a go at first of course, however, if you need help it will be freely given by the friendly forum members.

Get yourself an old working common, cheap and simple (hour, minutes and seconds only, no calendar or Chrono stuff) wristwatch or pocket watch and enough tools to take it apart. Take photos before and after you remove each bit and keep them in order. Then put it back together.  Well thats the theory anyway.

Cheers ( L'Chaim! )

Vic

Welcome Harold, Start with a Pocket Watch (not a Fusee) just practice taking it apart and putting it back, don't worry about getting it to work, learn the names of the parts, these P/W are very much like an old basic watch. There's plenty on here about starting out including what basic tools you will need.
