Manual of American Watch Movements

Hi Busakaz

I am not really sure if this is even what I need. I have a Waltham Model 1877 18s Appleton Tracy with broken Escape Wheel pivot. I am looking for the part number and perhaps cross reference numbers, or other models this part may be available in. I think I found a catalog which gives me part number.  Looks to me like 948 is wheel alone. Numbers 949 and 950 are slow train and quick train parts Not sure which one I need. What Should I look for? Below is a picture of what I need to replace. I will save this part for a later date when I take a shot at pivot replacement.

Is this basically what The other Manual of American Watch Movements has to offer as far as Waltham's go?

Here is a copy of Catalog I found in case another beginner can use it.

MY Bad

Looks like this is open face configuration so it would be 951 and 952

My book doesn't list that movement number it only lists 1883,1892 in size 18 and all part numbers have 4 numbers not 3, let me know if I can help

regards kaz

If there are only two choices one must be the default

1883 model

escape wheel only 1304,1305

escape wheel + pinion 1308,1309

1304 has 15 flat faced teeth

1305 has 15 round faced teeth

flat faced teeth uses round faced pallet stones

round faced teeth uses flat faced pallet stones

that's all it says for that model really.

Ok I purchased a donor watch with the escape wheel I needed. Both watches are model 1877 but different classes. The escape wheel pivot from the donor fits in the bottom plate jewel but the pivot is to big for the top plate is it customary to trim the pivot to fit  or replace jewel?

There always seems to be an issue with watch repair. It just shows you how much you really don't know every step of the way.
