Does anyone know what the approx grit or scratch size for the Matte finish part of a Rolex jubilee band

It it is really matte, sanding it won't do it. Sanding approximate brushing, for real matte you need head blasting.

However since I believe most Rolex have brushed finishing, you can use we 400 - 600 grit wet paper, and then finish with fine multi-fiber cleaning pad.

Proper way is to use an artifex wheel, it's what Rolex use in their service centers, in the correct hands the finish is perfect.

Artifex is just the brand name, they make easily 100 different abrasives.

As mentioned a lot depends on how tools are used. This clasp had many ugly scratches although not deep ones. Still some buffing compound left in the embossing.
